The next virtual meeting of the APPUG will be on Tuesday 26 January at 5pm on the topic of student and staff mental health and wellbeing.
The meeting will be an opportunity to discuss the mental health and wellbeing needs of students during the pandemic but also the longer-term crucial partnership between universities, students’ unions and local health services to make sure students do not slip through the gaps to the detriment of their health, education and wellbeing.
Given that the longer-term effects of Covid-19 are not yet fully understood, nor is the likely impact of a prolonged period of lockdown on young people’s mental health, the partnership between higher education and the NHS will become increasingly important.
Speakers for this meeting include:
- Claire Murdoch, National Director of Mental Health, NHS England
- Professor Steve West, Vice-Chancellor, University of the West of England
- Tahmina Choudhury, Vice President, Middlesex Students’ Union
- Professor Sandeep Ranote, Mental Health Lead, Greater Manchester Health & Social Care Partnership
